We’re excited to find someone that will bring their own ideas to the Basalt Regional Library Music Program. We’re looking for a creative and collaborative Music Programming Coordinator who loves music and libraries – someone who thrives on building community through music while also contributing to a strong, supportive library team.
About you:
- You are a musician with a solid foundation in music appreciation and history. Recording or performance experience is a plus.
- You believe music belongs in public libraries and you’re excited to help make that happen in creative ways that reflect and serve our diverse community.
- You have experience producing events, managing performers, coordinating logistics, and emceeing concerts.
- You’re organized, punctual, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with a knack for managing budgets and juggling multiple priorities.
- You’re a team player who enjoys being part of a collaborative environment and contributing to shared library goals, not just music related tasks.
- You have excellent customer service skills and a welcoming, service-minded attitude toward patrons of all ages and backgrounds.
- You’re just as happy helping with a display, welcoming a patron, or pitching in on a busy day as you are curating a concert series.
About the Music Program:
- The library hosts an esteemed monthly concert series, “Music at the Library,” featuring a variety of musical styles and genres. Performers include local, regional, and national musicians. Additional concerts are presented throughout the year.
- Through a long-standing partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS), a five-week concert series featuring students and faculty perform at the library during the summer season.
- A four-week children’s music and story time program, Tunes & Tales, is coordinated with the AMFS and presented during the summer vacation.
- Educational opportunities are presented through partnerships with fellow presenting organizations throughout the valley (Jazz Aspen/Snowmass and TACAW for example)
- Local and regional grants help sustain these programs.
About the position:
- Pay: $27.00 per hour
- You’ll be responsible for researching, selecting, contracting, and hosting musicians for our concert series.
- You’ll produce all the concerts, ensuring divers, high-quality programming that fits within budget.
- You’ll partner with our Marketing Team to design promotional materials and concert programs.
- You’ll work closely with the Aspen Music Festival and Youth Services team to present a diversified and excellent summer series featuring up and coming professional musicians.
- You will research and prepare the summer Tunes & Tales program in collaboration with the Youth Services department and Aspen Festival and School partners. This includes selecting appropriate story time materials, coordinating musical accompaniment, and transcribing music.
- You’ll coordinate all logistics for performers, including travel support, Green Room setup, and receptions.
- This position includes non-musical library duties as needed, and we’re looking for someone eager to contribute to the whole library’s success not just the music program.
- Benefits include three weeks of Personal Time Off per year for sick time and vacation; 6 hours of holiday pay for seven holidays per year; employee health insurance including medical, vision, and dental coverage ($7,272 per year benefit); library match of 2% retirement contribution after one year, 3% after two years, 4% after three years, and 5% for four years and longer.

- PTO (vacation) is earned on a prorated basis according to hours worked – part-time staff earn a portion of the full-time benefit
- Accumulate sick time at the rate of one hour per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours in a year
- 4 hours of holiday pay for seven holidays per year
- You will be eligible to participate in the employee benefits package, of which the BRLD pays medical, vision, and dental coverage ($8,436/year value)
- Retirement plan and a 2% library match after one year, increasing to 5% after four years.
