Maintaining and growing library services into the future will take additional funding.

– we can achieve it –

WITHOUT RAISING YOUR TAXES

Basalt Regional Library District will pay off its library construction debt one year early, in 2025. A ballot measure this November will ask voters to consider a 1.08 MILL LEVY EXTENSION of these funds to support long-term operations and maintenance of Basalt Library. A 1.08 mill extension will continue to cost taxpayers $67 per year for each
$1 million of current home value.

Long-term funding is needed to:
  • Ensure competitive wages to support Librarians and Staff
  • Provide current books, eBooks, online resources, movies, videos, music and more
  • Maintain and repair the library building and grounds
  • Offer convenient hours of access to resources, meeting rooms and work spaces
Argument in favor:

The library serves people of all ages and in all walks of life, providing access to the community. To sustain its continued services, the library requires long-term funding.

Argument in opposition:

The library could reduce its staff, services, resources, and hours and do without this funding.
