Everyone is invited to explore, read, and grow all summer long with the Basalt Regional Library.

This summer, Unearth a Story with the Basalt Regional Library! We’re inviting readers of all ages to dig into dinosaur-sized adventures, ancient worlds, and fossil-filled stories through hands-on activities and exciting challenges. The Summer Reading Program is your gateway to discovery—where the past comes alive and curiosity leads the way.

The Summer Reading Program is packed with engaging programs, reading challenges, and prizes that will inspire you to explore new ideas, uncover long-lost stories, and stomp into learning like a true paleontologist. Whether you’re reading about towering dinosaurs, hunting for fossils in local parks, enjoying the natural world, or discovering a new interest, the library has something waiting to be unearthed. At the library, every story is a fossil—and every reader is an explorer!

Read & Listen!

Babies & Preschoolers: Caregivers are encouraged to read, attend library programs, and complete early literacy activities with their babies and preschoolers all summer long! View our babies’ and preschoolers’ Summer Reading Logs to see what activities count towards summer reading prizes.

Kids, Teens & Adults: See how many books, graphic novels, and audiobooks you can read and listen to this summer! The more you read and listen, the more prizes you can earn! We also have great programs for everyone, some of which require registration.

Submit Summer Reading Logs!

Pick up and submit paper summer reading logs from the library or submit them online between June 8th and August 2nd.

Earn Prizes!

Babies, Preschoolers, Kids and Teens: For each Summer Reading Log you submit, you’ll earn a small prize and an entry into the grand prize drawing of your choice!

Adults: For each Summer Reading Log you submit, you'll earn an entry into the grand prize drawing of your choice!

When you’re ready to pick up your prizes and enter your raffle tickets, bring your completed summer reading logs to the library. If you’ve been submitting reading logs online, you will be automatically entered into the grand prize drawing of your choice! When picking up your small prizes, let library staff know you submitted book logs online and we can look up how many you have earned. The last day to submit reading logs is Sunday, August 2. Grand prize winners will be selected on August 3 - we will call you if you win!
