Open Board Positions

The Basalt Regional Library District is seeking applications for two Board of Trustee positions. Candidates must reside within the District boundaries in Eagle or Pitkin county. The Eagle County seat is open now, the Pitkin County seat will be open April 1st, 2026. Each three-year term has a formal application process, including interviews with county commissioners. The Board of Trustees oversees the finances of the library, sets policy for the library, supervises the Basalt Library’s Executive Director, and represents the library’s stakeholders. ​

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must reside within the town/county area of the position they’re applying for, as well as within the Basalt Regional Library District.
  • Applicants should be willing to commit to a term of 3 years.
  • Applicants should be available to consistently attend Board meetings (held the third Monday of every month) and to contribute 2-4 hrs weekly to committee and board tasks.
  • Applicants should familiarize themselves with the BRLD Bylaws, and Library Policies.
  • Applicants should have a general understanding of, and interest in the issues facing libraries today.
